A ceremony was held at the Chief Minister's House to launch the project. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur formally launched the scheme. Provincial cabinet members, members of the provincial assembly, government officials and media representatives also attended the ceremony. Under the first category of the first phase of the solarization project, 32,500 homes will be provided with solar units absolutely free of cost.
These solar units include, in addition to solar plates, batteries, fans, lights, and other essential items. 32,500 households were selected through e-blotting. More than 2.5 million 38 thousand online applications were received to acquire solar systems. Under the solarization project, solar systems are being provided to a total of 130,000 households, including 30,000 households in merged districts. Solar units will be provided to 65,000 households completely free of charge, while 65,000 households will be provided with half price and easy installments.
The project is being implemented in two phases, with 65,000 households being provided with solar units in the first phase, while the remaining 65,000 households will be provided with solar units in the second phase. The total estimated cost of the Solarization of Houses project is Rs. 20 billion.
